Professor McDougall on Strategy, Maritime and Grand

I had never heard Professor McDougall speak before his appearance at an August CNA conference on grand strategy.  When he strode up to the podium in a Tom Wolfe-like suit, looking for all the world like Faulkner reborn, I took an instant like to the cut of his jib.  When he had finished delivering this piece, I knew my initial impression was spot on.  This is good reading, and it makes a lot of sense.
