Sestak Makes It Official

Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) has made it official, announcing his challenge to Sen. Arlen Specter (D...no R....no D....-PA) for the upcoming Pennsylvania Democratic Senatorial Primary.

It is a rare story indeed that sits at the intersection of my professional interests (the Navy, etc) and my personal passion (politics). I'll watch this one with interest.

Joe Sestak has a well-deserved reputation from his active duty time, and much of it is not good. Word on the Hill is that he is chewing through staffers the way he would have chewed through them on active duty, if the staffers had the option to quit.

That said, Sestak always treated me with kindness and regard. While I do not share his zeal for the work/life ratio he advocates, no one works harder in a Sestak-run operation than he does. And I have a feeling Arlen Specter is in for a real dog-fight here, driven mainly by Sestak's drive and stamina--factors I think a 79 year-old man in poor health are going to find difficult to contend with.
