I've had the 30 minute version of this conversation over beer. It is just as interesting written out. That is a prevailing business view that will ring familiar to anyone who has actually done business with China. My neighbor who travels to China every 6-8 weeks uses an analogy.
China has imitated the models of others to build the plane, but soon they will have to write the pilots manual without help, and learn how to fly it.
