Picture of the Day - MV Sirius Star

This is a picture of the ransom money being parachuted to the MV Sirius Star. Dropped out of a small plane, this process was observed from a SH-60B from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light (HSL) 42 Detachment 1 embarked aboard guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72). Navy.mil did a great job with this. See the plane coming in here, after it had dropped here, and just in case you are trying to get a feel for how massive that ship is, why it's worth well over $125 million including cargo, check out this picture, it really captures the size well.

For the record, the pirates appeared to have been paid around $3 million ransom, which is one of the largest ransoms paid to date.
