The Russians are Escorting

Brussels 2 (European Defense) are citing Ria Novosti in reporting that the Russian frigate RFS Neustrashimyy (FF 712) has arrived off of Somalia. Although there has been speculation that this ship may intervene in the situation involving the MV Faina, at present it appears that the Neustrashimyy is performing escort duties. From Brussels2, translation mine (i.e. somewhat suspect):
Neoustrachimy began Tuesday to escort a Danish merchant ship with its Russian crew off the Somali coast, according to the spokesman for Russian Navy Igor Dygalo, who confided to our colleagues Ria Novosti. "Denmark has requested through diplomatic channels that the ship CEC Order be protected by a Russian vessel. The Danish-owned ship is flagged in the Bahamas. (But) its crew includes 15 Russian seamen," said the military. (Here is a Google translation of the story).
Nothing says the Russian marines aren't honing their craft and sharpening swords. But for the moment, it looks like the Neustrashimyy is slotting into the commerce escort role.

Update: It looks like they've engaged, along with the RN, possibly in protection of that same ship.
